Independence is an achievement, one that takes monumental effort and courage. The humility to ask for help and the resolve to help yourself. To refuse to be a victim or be seen as one. To accept that you are a work in progress and that progress takes time.
Independence is the goal of development work, the gift of real freedom to communities previously shackled by poor health and poverty. It is the end of a journey that starts with clean water – and the beginning of another, where people discover their own ability to inspire, while realizing their dreams and creating their own waves of change.
CAWST's Waves of Change showcases images and stories from Ndola & Livingston, Zambia, Madurai, India, and Petite-Rivière, Haiti
